The forty-third county in order of formation, Wayne County, Kentucky is located in the south-central section of Kentucky along the state border with Tennessee. Created in 1800 from parts of Pulaski and Cumberland Counties, it was named in honor of General Anthony Wayne, Revolutionary War hero.
Wayne County is located on beautiful Lake Cumberland. Lake Cumberland is a part of the chain of lakes in Kentucky and Tennessee constructed by the Tennessee Valley Authority and the Army Corps of Engineers. It is one of the most beautiful lakes in the country, and, according to a popular houseboating magazine, is home to the highest number of luxury houseboats of any lake in the United States.
Its 1,255 miles of shoreline make Lake Cumberland the largest manmade lake in the world in terms of miles of shoreline. It is surrounded by scenic rugged mountains. With an average water depth of 90 feet, it is one of the deepest of the lakes in the Tennessee and Cumberland River valleys. It is brimful of lively fish and rimmed by scores of coves and hollows. The surrounding tree covered mountains protect it from the worst weather. Lake Cumberland has made Kentucky's Southern Cumberland Mountains the ideal vacation region for all of mid America

Safe Streets for All - Public Survey
The Lake Cumberland Area Development District is currently developing a Safety Action Plan for Adair, Casey, Clinton, Cumberland, Green, McCreary, Pulaski, Russell, Taylor, and Wayne counties. Below is a link to a survey that is being used to collect data from anyone living in our service area. This survey will be combined with crash analysis and local agency review of roadways to identify potential safety issues on county roadways. Once identified, the ADD and local counties will work to identify countermeasures to improve safety. The Safety Action Plan will then be used to direct local forces and funds and pursue additional funding available from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and USDOT. This survey collects general demographic information and seeks information about overall safety trends within your area. Please answer the questions and click SUBMIT at the end of the survey.
